Blogs by Kathleen

Since 2014, Kathleen has been a regular blogger and receives wonderful feedback from patients, families and friends who have been inspired by her story. Her blogs complement Standing Up! and focus on practical measures that can improve the quality of life of stroke sufferers, others with long term disabilities and their carers. They are also aimed at policy makers in government and business.

The blogs draw on Kathleen’s experiences in the eight years since her stroke in 2011. They draw attention to the need to remove the impediments for a return to normal life by the disabled.

Impediments include insufficient access to physiotherapy, the steps and stairs that make shops, theatres and restaurants out of bounds. How to cope with the devastating negative emotions from the new reality.
